JMU Dominates St. Francis (PA) 55-7 in Season Opener

The #5 JMU football team dominated Saint Francis of Pennsylvania 55-7 Saturday night in the season opener at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg in the first ever meeting between the two programs.

Senior quarterback Justin Thorpe ran for two touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass in the first half. Thorpe completed 15-of-27 passes for 177 yards and rushed for 76 yards.

The Dukes had 602 yards of total offense, 377 yards rushing.

Former R.E. Lee High School standout Dae'Quan Scott ran for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass for Madison. The senior had 73 yards on the ground.

The Dukes led 14-0 after one quarter and 34-0 at halftime and 41-0 until the Red Flash scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

JMU only punted once and scored on every trip to the red zone. The Dukes had the ball for over eleven minutes more than St. Francis.

The Madison defense allowed 155 yards on 49 plays.

Madison returns to action Saturday night. The Dukes host Alcorn State at 6:00.
