Waynesboro Parking Law Enforcement Officer Retires

Posted: Updated:

Waynesboro's only parking law enforcement officer has retired.  After 34 years and 73,000 parking tickets, Officer Brenda Arkward is hanging up her uniform.

The mother and grandmother celebrated her long career Friday afternoon at the Waynesboro Fire and Rescue building.  Around 200 hundred of Arkward's closest friends, family and co-workers were in attendance.

They describe her as kind, patient, and irreplaceable.  "She's a very outstanding, very loving and generous person," said Dee Price with the Waynesboro Police Department.  "She can just light up the room when she walks into the room just with her smile.  And very warm.  She just knows how to do that little thing to lighten up your day if you're having a bad day, and she may not even know you're having a bad day."

Arkward says she plans to relax, reflect and put more time into a boutique she owns downtown.
