The Red Cross is stepping in to help a Charlottesville couple rebuild after a fire destroyed their home. Investigators believe a family member set the fire, making the situation all the more difficult.
The Red Cross plans to meet with the family Friday evening to help them rebuild from square one.
Chancey Ramsey is under arrest for arson. Police say he argued with a family member before allegedly starting the fire at their home along Monticello Road.
The Charlottesville Fire Department says they found evidence of accelerants. Everything inside the home is destroyed and the victims are staying with family friends. That's why the Red Cross in Charlottesville is using their disaster fund to help the family out.
Jack Jones, with Red Cross Disaster Services, said, "We're going to be able to help them with temporary lodging, some emergency funds for clothing, food - you can imagine losing everything."
As of now, the family may not be able to get insurance assistance so they are relying on help from the community.
People in central Virginia can assist the family by donating to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
