An arrest has been made in connection with a fire at a Charlottesville home Thursday afternoon. Fire investigators say arson was the cause of the blaze that caused major damage to a home on Monticello Road.

Charlottesville police have charged 31-year-old Chancey Ramsey with arson. Police say he argued with a family member before allegedly starting the fire. Both lived in the home

The Charlottesville Fire Department says the owner of the house got out safely, but emergency crews had to treat him for minor injuries.

The smoke was so heavy, firefighters had to perform extensive ventilation on the home.

An estimate of damage have not been released.
