A group in Charlottesville is looking into the city's history by figuring out who is buried 6 feet under in Oakwood Cemetery.
Steven Meeks with the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society is researching tombstones to document all of the people buried there, which has proved to be a difficult task.
"Some sections they have marked the graves and in many sections they did not marked the graves - so we're also trying to find out who might be buried there that do not have a marker at this point," said Meeks.
Some people they have found buried there include James Lane, the namesake of the former Lane High School that is now the Albemarle County Office Building, and Jackson P. Burley, the namesake of Burley Middle School.
