Augusta Health has earned a coveted national honor for the second straight year. The research company Truven Health Analytics has named it one of the 100 top hospitals in the United States.
It's the only community hospital in Virginia to take home that trophy.
In addition, Augusta Health has earned Truven's Everest award, reserved for the hospitals that have seen the most improvement over the past five years.
Augusta Health CEO Mary Mannix said, "The awards are wonderful and they're just icing on the cake. That's not really our motivation, however, achieving awards. Our motivation is just to continue to do right by our community, and continue to raise the bar of care and service that we provide them."
Truven measures hospitals on 10 different criteria. They include re-admission rates, medical complications, and patient satisfaction.
