Crews Work to Repair Route 29 Sinkhole

Virginia Department of Transportation crews are fixing a little bump in the road in Albemarle County Wednesday afternoon ahead of the president's arrival.

A depression in the road closed one lane of Route 29 northbound near Hollymead Town Center Wednesday.

The Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority spent Tuesday night making upgrades to water lines below the road, but heavy morning traffic caused temporary asphalt to sink in.

Crews are putting new asphalt over that patch, a quick fix before the presidential motorcade closes down Route 29. Work is expected to be finished by 1:00 p.m.
