The superintendent of Fishburne Military School is stepping down and says he is leaving it a better place. Colonel Roy Zinser is retiring, after leading the Waynesboro prep school for the past four years.
Fishburne graduates now boast a 100-percent college acceptance rate, and their classroom technology includes iPads for every cadet. Enrollment is near the school's 160-student capacity.
Zinser said, "The school's enrollment is up significantly over three to four years ago. The budget is working out, the academic program is fantastic. So it's just a good time to step back and hand the reins to the next guy."
That "next guy" could be named as early as next week.
Fishburne is Virginia's oldest military prep school with a history that dates back more than 130 years.
