Two years ago, two people were canoeing on the James near Scottsville when they came up with the idea to start a brewery. Now, the James River Brewing Company is getting ready for its grand opening this weekend.
The brewery is the first in Scottsville, and it is located downtown. The owners say they used several local vendors for the project and they hope their business will bring more people to the area.
Co-owner Chris Kyle said, "It's really exciting, to see people come down and see them drinking the product is really exciting."
The final touches are being put on the building and the beer to get everything ready for the first customers this weekend. The grand opening starts Saturday at 11 a.m.
