A Charlottesville-based online grocery company is expanding its reach and its product line after acquiring a similar Albemarle County company. Relay Foods announced its purchase of Arganica Farm Club Tuesday morning.
This has been in the works since July, and owners say it will boost product offerings for customers between Charlottesville and Philadelphia.
Kevin Kurzendoerfer of Relay Foods said, "Arganica brought access to local food that relay didn't have. Relay brought the operating platform that the business needs to succeed. The two together are positioned very well for success in the long run."
Relay Foods now boasts the largest supply chain and access to local food of any business in the mid-Atlantic region.
