The Rivanna Conservation Society says people in our area should remain cautious about the West Nile virus.
This comes after the Center for Disease Control (CDC) says 2012 has the highest number of cases since the virus was first detected in 1999. Two cases were found in Virginia. People are reminded to follow CDC guidelines if they are going to be around mosquitoes.
Robbi Savage with the Rivanna Conservation Society said, "Make sure that you don't leave standing water around your house in tubs or in your rain barrels or in buckets, so no standing water that would attract [mosquitos]."
