Albemarle Police Investigate Car Accident on Afton

A Waynesboro man is dead after a car crash on Route 250 in Albemarle County Sunday night. The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. along the 9300 block of Rockfish Gap Turnpike on Afton Mountain.

Thomas Eutsler of Waynesboro, 66, was headed westbound in a Dodge Stratus when he ran off the right shoulder and hit an embankment. The car flipped on its roof and landed in the eastbound lane.

Eutsler was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center and died a short time later. Investigators are still piecing together what caused the accident.
