A little rain didn't stop area softball players from coming together for a cause on Saturday.
The Carson Raymond Foundation held its fourth annual softball tournament at McIntire Park. The tournament fees will go to help renovate baseball fields in the Charlottesville community and help kids get more involved in sports.
John Raymond with the Carson Raymond Foundation explained, "Unfortunately, my 9-year-old son lost his life and we decided his story wasn't done. He loved baseball, loved playing with his friends, so we created a foundation to allow kids all over the Albemarle area to play sports."
The foundation provides scholarships and equipment to kids who wouldn't usually be able to participate in sports. Last year's event help raise $3,500.
