This weekend you can expect to see firefighters on the streets raising money for a good cause. The Charlottesville Fire Department kicked off its "Fill the Boot" fundraiser Friday.
Volunteers walked the intersection of Emmett and Ivy roads to give drivers a chance to make a donation to the area Muscular Dystrophy Association. The department hopes to raise $10,000.
Michael Link with the Charlottesville Fire Department said, "$800 sends a child to camp. This money supports the children who are getting flu shots, going to see the doctors for various things, getting equipment fixed and so forth."
The "Fill the Boot" initiative will run through this weekend and next.
