A prom this weekend isn't just for teens in high school. Adults can relive the good old days all for a good cause at Prom: Take 2.
The Main Street Arena in Charlottesville will turn back the clock for Prom: Take 2. All of the proceeds will benefit the Sexual Assault Resource Agency or SARA. There will be music from the 50's, 60's, and on up to the 90's. Awards will go to the best dressed couples from each era.
SARA provides resources for men, women and children affected by sexual violence. Dale Payne is an Operations Manager at SARA. She explains that while last fiscal year the nonprofit helped nearly 600 people through its programs, sexual assault is on the rise.
"We've seen more clients but we also know that there are lots of victims that do not actually seek services. So it's hard to determine just what those numbers are," Payne said.
SARA serves Charlottesville and Albemarle County as well as the surrounding communities of Louisa, Fluvanna, Greene and Nelson.
Tickets for Prom: Take 2 are $15 and available online. The fun kicks off at 8 P.M. at the Main Street on the Downtown Mall.
