Cavaliers Hold Final Two-A-Day Practice

Posted: Updated:

The Virginia football team is barely a week away from its first game of the season, and Thursday, the Cavaliers had their last Two-A-Day practice of the year.

UVA was practicing in the shadow of the new indoor facility at the McCue Center Thursday.

There's still a few position battles to be settled in the next few days, most noticeably the quarterback triumvirate of Michael Rocco, Phillip Sims, and David Watford.

Virginia will release the depth chart on Monday, which might clear up some of those questions.

Or maybe not.

Head coach Mike London says, "You may see some lines slashed. Let's just say, for example, I'm not saying it is, our fullback, you may see two names slashed, because of what we do."

Could those slashes be on the quarterback line as well?

"Mums the word," says London.

With the season kicking off a week from Saturday, the coach says the Wahoos are beginning to set their sights on opening-game opponent Richmond.

"For the most part, I think all the concepts and schemes are in," says London. "Now things will be more specific as to gameplan. We put a lot on their plate to learn, but now as we start playing, and game-planning teams, you start narrowing your focus."

UVA will host Richmond next Saturday at 3 o'clock.
