Staunton police say a remorseful Nicholas Rilee tried to stop his friend's bleeding in the moments after an accidental shooting.
Wednesday afternoon, a judge certified involuntary manslaughter and firearms charges against the 21-year-old. His case will go before a Staunton grand jury in October.
In a preliminary hearing Wednesday, officers said Rilee admitted shooting 20-year-old Richard Firebaugh in March, as the two played video games in a house on College Circle. Rilee reportedly told police that he thought the gun was unloaded.
