Millions of rocks make up a massive wall around the region's most famous garden at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. Shelton Sprouse, a stonemason, was there for the original renovation during the 1980s and now decades later, he's back again.
At that time, 10 million pounds of stone, some of them weighing hundreds of pounds, were placed on the wall one by one all by hand. Almost all of them came from in and around Monticello. Decades later, Sprouse is back to fix things up again.
"For 30 years of being there I think it's remarkable still and incredibly strong... And it's a work of a lifetime," said Sprouse.
Sprouse says the current renovations should be finished by September 1.
