Truck Crash Shuts Down Proffit Rd Bridge

A major cut through road in Albemarle County is closed following an accident. Albemarle County police say someone crashed their Ford F350 pickup truck into the one-lane bridge on Proffit Road.

Proffit Road connects Route 29 and Route 20 in northern Albemarle County. The bridge is closed as of 11:00 Sunday night, and it's unclear when it will reopen.

Police say the driver of the car is missing and they're looking for the person.

A crew must certify the structural integrity of the bridge before it reopens to traffic.
