Staunton police now know the identity of a man found dead inside a home earlier this month.
The medical examiner confirms 59-year-old David Wayne Gallahan died of a gunshot wound.
On August 9, police did a welfare check at 113 Skyline Drive, and found a deceased male in the residence.

The Virginia Medical Examiner's Office has identified the body found on August 9, 2012 at 113 Skyline Avenue. David Wayne Gallahan, 59, died of a gunshot wound.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, identification was delayed until this week. The body was identified through medical records. The case remains under investigation.
