UVa freshman defensive end Eli Harold is already showing why he was the top high school football prospect in the Commonwealth last year at Ocean Lakes HS in Virginia Beach.
Harold is big and fast. He's 6 foot 4, 230 pounds and runs a 4.46 in the 40-yard dash. Cavalier Coach Mike London appears ready to play Harold as a true freshman this year. London shared an anecdote from Wednesday's closed scrimmage.
London says, "At the scrimmage the other day he got down and he blew past Morgan Moses and that got Morgan... ok, ain't going to happen again young buck. For the rest of practice Morgan had him on lockdown so hopefully Eli Harold is going to be a household name when we get started in a little while, we'll see."
Harold says, "I'm going against one of the best tackles in college football in Oday Aboushi and Morgan Moses, those guys just bring me under their wing, Billy Schautz those guys are just teaching me the ins and outs of what I'm doing wrong and what I'm doing right. We're just trying to bring it all together so I can be a better player on and off the field."
Harold played both wide receiver and defensive end at Ocean Lakes HS last year. Harold had 16 sacks and 78 tackles as a senior.
