Three UVA soccer players have been named to the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy watch list, an award given to the top male and female college player in the country.
On the men's side, senior forward Will Bates is one of 42 players nominated. He ranked seventh in the nation in goal scoring last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury and missing the final six matches of the year.
Bates earned first-team All-ACC in 2011 with 14 goals, four assists, and a team-high 32 points in 15 matches.
On the women's side, Morgan Brian and Caroline Miller are nominees.
Sporting News named Brian the National Freshman of the Year last season.
Miller had seven goals in conference play in 2011, tied for best in the ACC.
