An organization that spends its time working to protect the Rivanna River may need more money to continue its mission. Members of the Rivanna River Basin Commission (RRBC) discussed their budget at a meeting Monday.
RRBC Chairman Marvin Moss says the organization is in transition - the federal and state grants it received are ending. That means members have to find ways to raise the money from private foundations and individuals.
"In five years, it's had a tremendous impact on the Rivanna River Basin, so we need to get people coming forward and saying 'yes, yes' we want to support this organization," Moss said.
The commission also discussed a new initiative called "Snappy," that will give a snapshot of the watershed and other projects that need improvement.
