The Rivanna River Basin Commission is completing a "snap shot" of the watershed's health. It's part of a meeting at the Albemarle County Office Building Monday, that includes a discussion of the Rivanna watershed's planning process.
Leslie Middleton is Executive Director of the Rivanna River Basin Commission. She says they are assessing the health of the watershed and looking at how well the community is protecting the area's waterways.
"Whatever flows into the river is kind of a snap shot or report card of the way we manage our land and how we live on it and how we do our waste disposal and all those kinds of things," Middleton said.
Middleton also reflected on how important it is for Charlottesville and Albemarle County to work with surrounding communities that are part of the watershed, including Greene and Fluvanna Counties.
The Rivanna River Basin Commission will meet on Monday, August 13, 2012 from noon to 2:00 P.M. The meeting takes place in Room 241 in the Albemarle County Office Building off McIntire Road.
