#7 UVA Women's Soccer Team Plays to Scoreless Draw with Georgetown

Posted: Updated:

The #7 UVA women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Georgetown Sunday night at Klockner Stadium.

The Cavaliers lost their first of two exhibition games Friday at Notre Dame 2-0 and will open regular season play Friday night at home against #9 Penn State at 7:00.

The 'Hoos and Hoyas played two 45-minute periods and a 30-minute period, but neither team could score in 120 minutes of action.

Virginia had 19 shots (five on goal), including nine in the third period. The Cavs also had eight corner kicks to Georgetown's four.

The Hoyas took four shots and put two on goal.

UVA had a number of great chances, but Georgetown keeper Lauren Trower made a number of phenomenal saves to preserve a shutout.

Virginia played without reigning ACC Freshman of the Year Morgan Brian and head coach Steve Swanson. They're representing the United States at the Under-20 World Cup in Japan and could miss ten games for the 'Hoos if they advance to the World Cup final.
