An insurance company in Charlottesville is helping central Virginia prepare for the unexpected.
State Farm Insurance employees donated water to replenish the Central Virginia Red Cross's supply after extended power outages from fierce storms that rolled through late June. The Red Cross loaded 350 cases of bottled water Friday.
Central Virginia Red Cross also received a $10,000 Good Neighbor Citizenship grant from State Farm.
Desirae Lucas of State Farm said, "As well as the Red Cross, we try to help people recover from the unexpected. So whenever people have power outages the first thing they need is water, whether it's to bathe with brush their teeth, drinking water to cook with."
The funds and donations will help stock Red Cross disaster trailers in case central Virginia is in an emergency situation.
