Wilson Elementary Complete Enough for Kids to Start School

Posted: Updated:

A major school renovation in Augusta County will be done enough for the kids to start back in less than two weeks.

School board members got an update Thursday night on the status of the $15.2-million Wilson Elementary School expansion.  The Fishersville school has been under construction since last September.

The project isn't complete, but the new classroom section will be ready as well as the gym, library, music and art rooms.  Augusta County School Board member Tim Swortzel says it could be a bumpy first day.

"Our main focus is to get the kids in there," he said.  "Get them started.  Work through the bumps in the road and the safety, and we'll get it done."

The entire Wilson Elementary School project is expected to be completed next spring.
