A nonprofit is celebrating Charlottesville's 250th birthday by helping people lower their energy bills. The Energize!250 campaign is run by the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP).
If you live in the city, LEAP is offering to send a certified building analyst to identify how you can lower your energy bill. Instead of charging $100 for a consultant to swing by, LEAP will only charge you $25.
James Corne with LEAP said, "You get a building expert who is accredited in this type of science comes to your home and personally advises you on ways that you can save energy that you most likely would've been completely unaware of."
LEAP hopes people help it reach its goal of reviewing 250 homes in 250 days in celebration of the city's birthday.
