Starting Thursday, there will be limited access to Azalea Park in Charlottesville as crews begin construction.
Charlottesville Parks and Recreation will be working on fixing up the road and parking area for the park. They'll also be replacing the basketball courts and adding new playground equipment.
The renovations are made possible by nearly $400,000 from city council. Staff from parks and recreation says these improvements are much needed.
Doug Ehman with Charlottesville Parks and Recreation said, "Well parks, just like anything, like your home, they get dated, they get old, things get tired, things break, they get out of date, and there's just a need to go in periodically, get them up to date."
Charlottesville Parks and Recreation plans to ask city council for additional money to finish the project. Construction is expected to be completed by August 31.
