Offensive Line Will Be Key For UVA

Posted: Updated:

There is a lot of focus on Virginia's quarterbacks in training camp this year, but the amount of success UVA's starter will have will depend a lot on the blockers up front.

The Cavaliers return three starters on the offensive line, including junior Morgan Moses, and preseason All-ACC senior Oday Aboushi.

Aboushi is a 6 foot 6, 310 pound tackle, and is already being projected as a first or second round NFL draft pick.

Moses is also 6 foot 6.

He says he's dropped about 20 pounds since he arrived at UVA, down to a mere 335.

He's in great shape, and joked that he had to give up the junk food to get fit.

"I wanted to maintain strength yet loose the weight," says Moses. "Playing in the trenches you got to be strong to fight those 300-pounders. I couldn't eat fried food no more, couldn't go to McDonalds for the late night meal. Just cutting all those things down it allowed me to faster, leaner, more flexible, all those great things a lineman need.

Head coach Mike London says, "He's claiming to be the best athlete on the team he proved it the other day with the bowling high score and now we wants to do it in taking care of his body and showing he can do it on the football field as well."

London says Moses bowled close to a 200 Monday night.
