One of Virginia's former first ladies made a stop in Charlottesville Tuesday morning, rallying support for her husband's Senate campaign.
Democrat Tim Kaine's wife, Anne Holton, began her tour of small businesses at Eppie's on the downtown mall. She says small businesses are the engine of our economy, and her husband, if elected, will remove barriers that keep small businesses from competing on a bigger playing field.
"We have a tax code and other structures that are advantageous to big multinational companies that can hire people to find their way through the maze. For small business people, the complexity disadvantages them," Holton said.
Eppie's owner told Holton his solution to better business is simple. When the economy gets better, people have more money to spend in his restaurant. Therefore, he can hire more staff and continue the cycle of improving the economy.
