Grand Jury Indicts Fenton on Breaking & Entering Charge

Posted: Updated:

A man arrested by University of Virginia police after an alleged assault and a break-in will head to trial.

Monday, a grand jury in Albemarle County Circuit Court indicted Ryan Matthew Fenton on a charge of breaking and entering.

Fenton was originally charged with breaking and entering, assault and battery, underage possession of alcohol and possession of marijuana.  All of those charges except breaking and entering were dropped.

Police say he broke into an occupied first floor room at a UVA residence hall.  It happened after investigators say he pushed two female UVA students in April of 2012 and followed them to their residence hall.

Fenton is scheduled to be in court on January 9, 2013.
