UVA Doctor Offers Tips to Boost Work Ethic During Olympics

Posted: Updated:

A doctor at the University of Virginia is offering up tips for people struggling to balance the Olympics and getting work done.

Some employers in Charlottesville offer Internet services that allow employees to stream live coverage of the games, but not all.  Dr. Elaine Bailey from UVA's Behavioral Medicine Center says employers who don't have these services could see a change in work ethic because people are staying up late.

"Fatigued low energy and also they might notice they have trouble with attention things like slow, boring tasks can be a little bit harder to do," Bailey said.

Dr. Bailey says bosses may want to consider offering extra coffee breaks or even allowing employees to take a 30-minute nap after lunch to increase productivity.
