President Barack Obama supporters are celebrating the campaign's first office in Fluvanna County. About 150 people attended a grand opening for the Obama campaign office on Turkey Sag Trail in Palmyra Saturday.
This is the first national political office to come to Fluvanna. Participants say the turnout at the grand opening proves what an important state Virginia will be in the upcoming presidential election.
Fluvanna County resident Arthur Meyer stated, "When we first moved down here it was impossible to find a Democrat because no one would come out and say ‘oh I'm a Democrat'. Now there's probably more Democrats than Republicans in the county."
People at the event say having a national office is a small step toward getting more people in Fluvanna behind the Obama campaign.
