Saturday organizers keyed us in on the culture of the event.
Claire Le Goues of the Charlottesville Derby Dames said, "A lot of us have derby names, my derby name is Claire and Present Danger. There's a lot of fun. We wear fun outfits, crazy makeup, but there it is a very athletic sport. It's a real sport, there's real girls and it's a lot of fun to watch."
This is the second time the event has taken place in Charlottesville.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
