The Democrat running for the 6th District congressional seat wants it all out on the table.
Thursday Andy Schmookler held a series of news conferences in Harrisonburg, Lynchburg and Roanoke. He wants those three cities to host a series of debates with Republican Bob Goodlatte who has held the congressional seat for 20 years.
Schmookler wants a chance to expose what he calls the "lies" of the GOP.
"He and his party have betrayed the trust of the people who sent them to govern," Schmookler stated. "By placing this issue of debates, I think it will become very difficult for him to dodge as he customarily has done with his opposition."
In a brief written statement Thursday, the Goodlatte campaign said it would work on a debate schedule after Congress adjourns for its August recess.
