It's going to be a tax
free weekend and the stores are filled with school supplies, just in time to "Stuff
the Bus" in Augusta County.
The United Way of Greater
Augusta, together with the Salvation Army, hopes to collect $35,000 in school
supplies this weekend. The backpacks
filled with notebooks, pencils and crayons will be given to kids in need.
Stuff the Bus will be set
up outside the Walmart stores in both Staunton and Waynesboro this Friday and Saturday.
Cynthia Pritchard, director
of the United Way of Greater Augusta said, "Anybody that has bought school
supplies knows how expensive school supplies are. There are families that are going to be
making choices between school supplies and food. And if we can put school supplies in the kids'
hands, then mom and dad can put food on the table."
