Middle School Students Take Part in Augusta Health Care Camp

Posted: Updated:

Preparing for a career in health care requires some real hands-on training.  Augusta Health in Fishersville is offering just that, during a three-day health care camp.

The 18 students taking part in the program come from middle schools in Augusta County, Staunton and Waynesboro.  By the time they're finished, they have some real-life experience and a glimpse of possible careers.

Linda Gail Johnson with Augusta Health said, "They're doing CPR, they're doing injections, blood pressure, blood glucose.  And we have another group over in the radiology department actually looking at some X-rays, so they get exposure to a lot of professionals and a lot of experiences."

The middle school camp is now in its second year.  Grant money allows Augusta Health to offer it to students free of charge.
