Augusta Man Arrested on Aggravated Sexual Battery Charges

Eugene Monroe, 71

An Augusta County man was arrested over the weekend on charges that he molested two young girls.

Eugene Monroe, 71, has been indicted on two counts of aggravated sexual battery.

An investigator from the Augusta Sheriff's Office says one alleged case of molestation took place in the spring of last year. Another girl said Monroe abused her for several years, dating back to the mid-1990s.

Monroe is free on bond, and has a court appearance on August 13.
