Social media is taking its toll on the London Olympic Games. With a five hour time delay between the United States and England, a number of Olympic events have already happened before they make air on prime-time television.
NBC and other outlets are live tweeting the outcomes and medal counts through social media which can spoil the ending for many.
Marijean Jaggers with Jaggers Communications said, "If you're following athletes or any hashtags, you're going to experience it at different times. So we're sort of in time travel mode right now."
The best advice if you would like to watch an event before knowing the outcome, stay away from Twitter and Facebook while the games are ongoing.
