A Monday morning accident sent a bicyclist to the hospital and left a driver facing charges. It happened about 7:30 a.m. in the 900 block of West Main Street.
Charlottesville police say a Subaru Forester tried to take a left, and did not see a bicyclist in the eastbound lane. The rider ran into the side of the vehicle.
The bicyclist, a 21-year-old Charlottesville man, is being treated at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He is listed in guarded condition.
The driver of the Forester, 44-year-old Lynn Butler of Charlottesville, was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
