Police Searching for Suspect in Ridge Street Hit & Runs

Posted: Updated:

Charlottesville police are looking for 31-year-old Marvin Sirrelle Turner in connection to a string of hit-and-run accidents that closed Ridge Street last Wednesday.

The accidents caused significant damage to property and knocked down utility poles, shutting off power to homes and businesses on Ridge Street between Elliot and Monticello avenues.

Turner faces three charges related to the incident.  He is wanted for hit-and-run, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license.

Capt. Gary Pleasants with the Charlottesville Police Department said, "The first charge is reckless driving.  When he wrecked, he hit three parked vehicles and three utility poles, severing all three of those poles. His vehicle actually went over on its top, hit a guide wire, and came back onto its wheels again before it stopped him."

Police say they have no reason to believe Turner has left the area.  He is described as approximately 5 feet 7 inches, 170 pounds, with tattoos on both arms.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
