Fairview Wins Jefferson Swim League Championship

Posted: Updated:

The Fairview Swim Club made a strong push in the 4th and final session of the Jefferson Swim League championships Saturday, and won the title for the 22nd year in a row.

The Crozet Gators had been leading after the first three sessions, and ended up in second place.

Boar's Head, Fluvanna, and Forest Lakes round out the top five.

Fairview had been in 6th place after the first two sessions Friday.

Future Hokie Holly Harper won the Girls 15-18  100 meter freestyle race in a time of 58.49 seconds.

The championship meet was held at the Fork Union Military Academy pool this year, as upgrades at the UVA Aquatic and Fitness Center made that pool unavailable for the JSL for the first time since the mid 1990's.

There were 17 teams at the 46th championship meet Saturday, and close to 3,000 swimmers competed in the Jefferson Swim League this summer.
