Waynesboro is the top overall seed in the playoffs, after finishing the regular season with a record of 31-13.
Brandon Murray went 4-for-5 with 2 RBI for the home team, while Julian Ridings had three hits and drove in three runs.
Waynesboro will look to win Game 2 and capture the series Saturday night at 7:30pm at New Market.
Harrisonburg took the first game of its series with Rockbridge, as the Turks win 2-0.
Dillon Ortman pitched a complete game shutout for Harrisonburg, allowing just one hit, while striking out seven.
They'll play Game 2 in Rockbridge Saturday at seven o'clock.
