A delegation from Charlottesville's African sister city Winneba, Ghana is in town checking out the sights and talking business.
The delegation arrived late Wednesday and kicked things off Thursday with a number of meetings with city officials, including the city manager. They had lunch on the downtown mall to talk about the sister city relationship and progress on a new library in Winneba.
Sister city commission secretary Tina Yawson said, "Already land has been acquired for the project. We've already brought a document for the land and we are here to make them know things are ready at home and they have to start doing something."
The delegation will be in town through August 03.
They will attend the annual Taste of Ghana Festival at Walker Upper Elementary School Thursday evening.
