About 50 students packed into Woodbrook Elementary's library Thursday morning to get a special gift from an area nonprofit.
The nonprofit 'Book Baskets' delivered new and used books to summer school students at Woodbrook Elementary in Albemarle County.
The kids had the chance to choose two books, sign their name in the cover, and call them their own.
Woodbrook Elementary Principal Lisa Molinaro said, "It's an opportunity for us to put books in our kids' hands. A lot of our students aren't in the position where they have readily [sic] access to books at their instructional level…and it's probably the most important thing we can do for our kids."
Book Baskets have been devoted to giving back across Albemarle and Charlottesville for the past 17 years.
