The Waynesboro Generals earned the top-seed in the Valley Baseball League playoffs with a doubleheader sweep of Rockbridge Wednesday night, while Staunton was eliminated.
The idle Braves (21-23) needed a loss by New Market (22-22) to gain a spot in the postseason.
Instead, the Rebels won 14-4 at Covington to end Staunton's season.
Waynesboro took two on the road at Rockbridge, winning the first game 4-2, and the second 15-1.
The Generals (31-13) will host New Market Friday at 7pm in the first round of the VBL playoffs.
The Albemarle Post 74 American Legion baseball team beat Courtland 11-1 in 7 innings to win the District 13 championship.
Josh Malm picked up the win on the mound, while Ryan Morris was 3-for-4 with 3 doubles.
Albemarle will take on Roanoke Tuesday at 5pm at the Stafford American Legion Field in the first round of the state playoffs.
