ACC & CAA Preseason Honors Announced

Posted: Updated:

The ACC held its annual Football Kickoff this week, giving the media a chance to talk with coaches and players from each school.

The predicted order of finish in the conference was released Tuesday, with Virginia Tech expected to win the Coastal Division, and UVA picked to finish fourth.

The Preseason All-ACC squad was announced Wednesday, with the Cavaliers placing senior linebacker Steve Greer and senior offensive lineman Oday Aboushi on the team.

Both players were named second team All-ACC at the end of last season.

Aboushi beat out teammate Morgan Moses by one vote to make the preseason squad this year.

Virginia Tech has three players on the 25-member team, and they're all on defense.

Senior linebacker Bruce Taylor, junior defensive end James Gayle, and junior cornerback Kyle Fuller have all been named Preseason All-ACC.

All three players are on the preseason watch list for the Nagurski Trophy.

Fuller and Taylor have been named to the Bednarik watch list, while Fuller is also on the watch list for the Jim Thorpe Award.

The Hokies were second in the league in total defense and scoring defense last year.

The James Madison football team has been picked to finished 3rd in the Colonial Athletic Association, behind Towson and Old Dominion.

The Dukes received one first place vote.

Junior running back and former RE Lee star Dae'Quan Scott was named to the CAA Preseason All-Conference team as a kick returner for JMU.

Duke's senior fullback Brian Barlow and senior offensive lineman Earl Watford also made the team, as did junior linebacker Stephon Robinson.
