Blue Ridge Community College puts a completely different spin on summer school.
The campus in Weyers Cave is hosting the annual "Learning Can Be Fun." It's a series of classes and workshops for kids from elementary to high school.
This week students are using music to learn sign language, building Lego robots, and sharing a crash course in acting for the stage.
Sandy Belcher with Blue Ridge Community College said, "The purpose of the program is for them to grasp concepts in a very hands-on way that is fun. So they spend the summer having fun, but at the same time they're learning important concepts."
Next week will be the final one this summer for the "Learning Can Be Fun" series. Classes will include building a computer and water-adventure fun.
