More Charges for Waynesboro Malicious Wounding Suspect

Bowie Robert Hoyt has netted five additional charges stemming from his May 28 arrest on malicious wounding. 

The new charges are possession of methamphetamine; possession of Hydomorphone, a Schedule II drug; and possession of a firearm while in possession of a Schedule II drug.  All are felonies. 

The other two are misdemeanor offenses of possession of marijuana / 2nd offense and possession of Buprenorphine, a Schedule III drug. 

He was served the additional warrants on July 20 at Middle River Regional Jail where he remains incarcerated without bond.


Previous Release - May 28, 2012

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested the last at-large suspect in the May 17 Sherwood Ave incident.  Bowie Robert Hoyt was arrested by the Police Department around 2:00 A.M. on May 28 at a residence in Waynesboro. 

Officers received an anonymous tip that led them to Hoyt.  He was arrested without incident but was in possession of a semi-automatic handgun and suspected drugs. 

Future charges against Hoyt are likely. 

He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail on one felony charge of malicious wounding.


Previous Release – May 21, 2012

The Waynesboro Police is requesting assistance to locate Bowie Robert Hoyt, 25 years old, of Waynesboro.  The Police Department has a felony warrant for Hoyt for malicious wounding. 

The investigation pinpointed Hoyt as the person who stabbed the victim.  Hoyt is a white male, 5'6", 130 lbs, with brown hair and green eyes.

Previous Release – May 20, 2012

The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested two more individuals involved in the May 16 incident in the 700 block of Sherwood Ave.

Sa'Jon Skylar Arey, 19 years old of Waynesboro, surrendered him to the Police Department on May 19.  He was charged with being an accessory in a mob to malicious wounding.

Brandon Dale Brinkley, 20 years old of Waynesboro, was arrested at his residence on May 20.  He was charged with being an accessory in a mob to malicious wounding.

Both are being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.

Previous Release – May 19, 2012

The Waynesboro Police Department has obtained felony charges on four Waynesboro men in the assault by mob incident that led to a 23-year-old Verona man being stabbed in the leg.

One of the four, Tony Laurenzo Watkins, 23 years old, was arrested on May 18, for being an accessory in a mob to a malicious wounding.  Watkins was the individual who was dragged by the vehicle that the victim was in as it tried to leave the area. 

He is being held at Middle River Regional Jail. 

Officers continue to look for the other three suspects.  


Previous Release - May 17, 2012

The Waynesboro Police Department is investigating an altercation that happened around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the 700 block of Sherwood Ave.  The altercation involved two groups of approximately ten to twelve people and resulted in a stabbing, a shooting, and an individual being dragged by a vehicle.  However, no life threatening injuries were reported. 

The officers received various and conflicting statements from all those who were interviewed.

When officers arrived on the scene of the reported "fight in progress," they spoke with individuals from one side of the altercation.  These witnesses indicated that individuals from the other side arrived in three vehicles for an unknown reason. 

The altercation quickly ensued which resulted in one 23-year-old Waynesboro man being dragged by one of the vehicles.  It is unknown if he hit by the vehicle first or caught in it as it drove away.  A 23-year-old Verona man who was a passenger is this vehicle was stabbed in the leg.  

Just before the three vehicles drove away, it is believed that one of their occupants fired a handgun one time.  No one was struck by the gunshot and no damage from a bullet was located. 

Officers spoke to members of the second group a short time later in the Shenandoah Heights area.

The victim who was dragged by the vehicle didn't require medical attention.  The stabbing victim transported himself to Augusta Health where he was treated and released.

At this point in the investigation, no charges have been placed.
